This phenomenon is further compounded by the inadequacy of the drainage system, which, despite the construction of box culverts in anticipation of the issue, has not yielded substantial results in terms of flood risk management. In confronting these challenges, it is imperative to recognise the pivotal role that community perceptions play in effectively managing and responding to disasters. This study aims to explore the basis of community perceptions regarding mitigation, evacuation, rehabilitation, and the assessment of the city government's flood management strategies in the Surabaya area. The research will implement ethnography virtual research methods by uncovering public narratives generated through comments on “lovesuroboyo” Instagram posts related to flood and culvert box. The discourse in the public sphere has indicated a pervasive sentiment of dissatisfaction with the government for flood risk management. This has led that the culvert box, a primary conduit for flood mitigation, has been adjudged unsatisfactory. In the context of environmental protection and flood management, it is imperative to underscore the significance of two key elements, namely, effective drainage infrastructure and a shared understanding among stakeholders. The necessity for collaboration between government entities and the community as an instrumental means of addressing and mitigating challenges pertaining to flooding.
2026-01-10T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 INFLUENCE: INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SCIENCE REVIEWhttps://influence-journal.com/index.php/influence/article/view/303The Influence of Differentiation Strategy to Superiority Competing in the Creative Industry2026-01-12T01:40:57+00:00Muhammad Agung Dharmajayaagungdharma@unmabanten.ac.id
This study aims to analyze the effect of differentiation strategy on superior competitiveness in the creative industry. The creative industry faces increasingly fierce competition, so business actors strive to create unique products, innovations, and trademarks that are able to differentiate themselves from competitors. Differentiation strategy is seen as one of the strategic approaches that can increase competitiveness and business sustainability. This study uses a quantitative study method with a survey approach. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires to creative industry business actors in Sumedang Regency as research respondents. A total of 93 samples were obtained. Data analysis used included validity tests, reliability tests, and simple regression analysis to examine the effect of differentiation strategy on superior competitiveness. The results of the study indicate that differentiation strategy has a positive and significant effect on superior competitiveness in the creative industry. This finding indicates that the better the implementation of differentiation strategies, such as product innovation, quality, design, and service, the higher the superior competitiveness of creative industry actors. This study is expected to provide practical contributions to industry players in formulating effective business strategies and serve as a reference for further research.
2026-01-12T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 INFLUENCE: INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SCIENCE REVIEWhttps://influence-journal.com/index.php/influence/article/view/304Community School-Based Social Protection: Breaking Out of the Cycle of Extreme Poverty2026-01-17T06:35:07+00:00R. Willya Achmad W.willyaachmad@unpas.ac.idUga Pratama Gunawanabc@gmail.comUmi Haniabc@gmail.comBoy Iskandar Waronganabc@gmail.com
Extreme poverty remains a structural issue that hinders improving the quality of life of communities, especially in areas with minimal access to education, health care, and social protection. This study aims to analyze the role and effectiveness of Community School-based social protection as an alternative community empowerment strategy to break out of the cycle of extreme poverty. Using a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, this study gathered data through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies in communities implementing the Community School model. The results indicate that implementing Community Schools as a strategy to address extreme poverty has significant potential to improve the quality of life of children from the poorest families through boarding school education, a vocational curriculum, and a holistic approach involving health support and family empowerment. However, the study also identified significant challenges, such as limited competent teaching staff, incomplete long-term funding, the risk of social and psychological impacts on students, and targeting issues due to suboptimal data validity. Nevertheless, if these challenges can be addressed with appropriate policies, the Community School program has the potential to be an effective intervention in breaking the cycle of extreme poverty in Indonesia.
2026-01-17T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 INFLUENCE: INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SCIENCE REVIEWhttps://influence-journal.com/index.php/influence/article/view/305The Impact of Competency-Based Interviews on Employee Selection Results2026-01-26T11:13:51+00:00Ading Rahman Sukmaraading_rahman34@unigal.ac.id
Competency-based interviews have become crucial due to the shift in companies' need to recruit talent who are not only technically proficient but also excel in behavior (soft skills). The impact is an increase in the quality of selection results, allowing new employees to directly contribute to productivity and organizational goals. Research generally shows that competency-based interviews improve the quality of recruitment outcomes and employee performance compared to traditional methods. Competency-based interviews have a very positive and significant impact on employee selection results. This method results in more objective recruitment, improves person-job fit, enhances long-term performance, and strengthens the company's core competencies.
2026-01-26T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 INFLUENCE: INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SCIENCE REVIEWhttps://influence-journal.com/index.php/influence/article/view/306Community Participation in the Development of the Petai River Tourism Village, Kampar District2026-01-29T09:09:26+00:00Riau Nuritariau.nurita@lecturer.unri.ac.idFirdaus Yusrizalabc@gmail.comAhmad Nawawiabc@gmail.comFahmi Muhammadabc@gmail.comNurarini Yuliaabc@gmail.com
The development of community-based tourism villages is one of the strategies for sustainable tourism development in Indonesia. The success of tourism village development is largely determined by the level of participation of local communities as the main actors. This study aims to analyze the forms of community participation, supporting and inhibiting factors of participation, and their implications for the development of Sungai Petai Tourism Village, Kampar District. The study uses an interpretive paradigm with a descriptive qualitative approach within the Community Based Tourism (CBT) framework. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation studies. Research informants were determined purposively, including village officials, tourism village managers, community leaders, youth, and local business actors. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that community participation has occurred but is still dominated by the implementation stage of activities, while involvement in planning and decision-making is still limited. Supporting factors for participation include the natural potential of Sungai Petai and the community's spirit of mutual cooperation, while inhibiting factors include limited human resource capacity, low access to information, and non-inclusive tourism village management institutions. This study recommends developing a more inclusive model of community participation through strengthening village tourism institutions, particularly by examining in-depth the mechanisms of community involvement in the planning and decision-making stages to achieve sustainable village tourism development.
2026-01-29T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 INFLUENCE: INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SCIENCE REVIEWhttps://influence-journal.com/index.php/influence/article/view/301Competency-Based Learning in Maritime Vocational Higher Education: A Systematic Literature Review2026-01-05T10:02:52+00:00Nur Rohmahnur_rohmah@pip-semarang.ac.id
Maritime vocational higher education plays a strategic role in preparing human resources capable of meeting the needs of the ever-growing and increasingly competitive maritime sector. The dynamics of the maritime industry, characterized by technological developments, increasingly stringent work standards, and the need for a ready-to-work workforce, demand learning that is oriented towards achieving students' true capabilities. However, in practice, there is still a gap between the learning process in maritime vocational higher education and the real needs of the workplace, both in terms of learning orientation, the role of educators, and integration with industry. This study aims to examine in depth the implementation of competency-based learning in maritime vocational higher education and its commitment to graduate readiness and competitiveness. This study uses a qualitative approach through the review and analysis of various literature sources and previous research results relevant to competency-based learning and maritime vocational education. The results indicate that the direction and orientation of learning that align with the needs of the maritime industry play a crucial role in shaping graduates' work readiness. The role of educators, practical instructors, and an integrated learning environment also supports the achievement of students' professional skills and attitudes. Furthermore, integrating learning with the needs of the maritime industry, despite facing various challenges, opens up opportunities for continuous learning innovation to improve the quality and competitiveness of maritime vocational higher education graduates.
2026-02-28T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 INFLUENCE: INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SCIENCE REVIEW
